Exploring ideas for my short film
After exploring a range of genres and developing several initial ideas, I identified a few key characteristics that I wanted to incorporate into my short film. These choices were based on creative preferences and practical considerations, and they helped shape the direction of my final concept. The guiding concepts I settled on are:
- A short film with no dialogue – This approach allows me to tell the story purely through visuals, using body language, camera work, and editing to convey meaning and emotion.
- A vintage look to make the film feel older – I was drawn to the nostalgic feel of vintage aesthetics, which can add depth, mood, and a distinctive visual identity to the film.
- A focus on Comedy, Romance, or Thriller – These genres are effective without dialogue and suit the vintage style, allowing me to create atmosphere and tell engaging stories visually.
These elements form the foundation of my film’s creative direction and will continue to guide decisions throughout the production process.
